Welcome to the board.I think the word you mean is more frequently spelled "kerfuffle" or "curfuffle"; see this old thread for more information.

Kerfuffle is the word you probably have in mind. It's mainly used in the UK; Quinion has an article on it.Pipped by the good Doctor, but at least the link is different.
